JOHNSTOWN - An Ephratah turkey hunter faces a Fulton County Court trial Monday in a 2011 assault case.
Jury selection will begin Monday morning before Judge Richard C. Giardino in the case of Richard A. Paddon Jr. He faces two misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault and third-degree reckless endangerment.
Assistant District Attorney Amanda Nellis will appear for the prosecution.
Schenectady attorney Michael T. Horan is representing the defendant, who was indicted by a county grand jury April 20.
Authorities said Paddon on May 14, 2011, recklessly caused injury to a victim while hunting wild turkey in an open field at 162 Hill Road in Ephratah.
Police said he fired a 12-gauge shotgun and hit the victim - Dale S. Gray Jr. - in the back and head. The indictment stated Paddon fired "without sufficiently identifying his target."
