AMSTERDAM-City firefighters are investigating a Saturday morning fire that left a Reid Street home uninhabitable.
Fire Chief Richard Liberti said they received the call at 9:32 a.m. He said the fire started on the rear porch. The flames rose and set fire to the attic and the second floor of the two-family home.
According to Liberti, the second floor, attic and rear porch were heavily damaged, while the first floor had smoke and water damage.
Liberti said while the investigation is ongoing and the final report would not be filed until later this week, the cause of the fire appears to be accidental.
The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York provided aid to the residents of the house.
