FORT PLAIN - A local businessman is facing felony physical and sexual assault charges after village police took him into custody Saturday.
Dennis J. Todd, 62, of 24 Willett St., was arrested Saturday and charged with felony first-degree criminal sexual act in connection with his alleged sexual contact with a 13-year-old male, police said. The arrest followed a yearlong investigation, according to police.
Todd also was charged with first-degree assault. Police said he allegedly hitting an adult male in the head with a blunt object Aug. 16.
Todd was arrested after a complaint was lodged after he supposedly struck a man in the head with a baseball bat. During the investigation, police found information that linked Todd to sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy, according to the report.
After his arrest, Todd was taken to Minden Town Court, where he was arraigned and held in lieu of $200,000 cash bail. As of this morning, he was still in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
Todd is registered in the Department of State's corporation and business database as the CEO of Old Fort Plaza Inc. and owner of Dennis' Daylight Donuts Inc.
Montgomery County Undersheriff Jeffery Smith confirmed the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office assisted in the case.
