JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Board of Supervisors last week approved a $78,875 bid with an Onondaga County company for a hot water boiler replacement project at the building that houses the county Sheriff's Department.
The board approved a bid with J.W. Stevens of East Syracuse for purchase of a gas boiler for the building, also known as County Services Complex I on Route 29.
Supervisors approved the sole bid from the company for boiler replacement - a six-million BTU boiler with installation, warranty, start-up and training.
The board also approved another boiler conversion project at the county Department of Social Services' Cooper Building. The board directed Superintendent of Highways and Facilities Mark Yost to solicit quotes for converting oil-fired equipment at the building to natural gas, including the removal on an underground fuel oil tank and associated piping.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation conducted a site inspection May 7 at the Cooper Building and found the tank not in compliance.
In other business, the board extended the employment of nursing home Controller Suzanne Rose through Sept. 28. She will be providing close-out work and final billing work for the county's former nursing home, which is now in private hands.
County Administrative Officer Jon Stead said the board had to withdraw two proposed resolutions prior to its meeting at the County Office Building.
One was a proposed resolution to authorize purchase of digital cameras and accessories for use by local law enforcement agencies using 100 percent state crime victim grant funds.
"We're just waiting on some additional monetary information," tead stated.
He said the board also withdrew a proposed resolution to authorize a contract with Tech Valley Communications for metro ethernet services, which connects to both public internet as well as corporate sites.
Stead said the county received two different proposals and the county wants to make sure they were similar - "apples to apples." He said county Information Services Director Tony Basile will be looking into the proposals.
Both withdrawn resolutions will most likely come back to the board next month, Stead said.
