GLOVERSVILLE - Dick Gillespie, the director of the Gillespie Pageants,announced in a news release that the Eastern New York Pageant of Stars has been postponed until Sept. 1, at the American Legion, 200 N. Main St.
This is an official preliminary to the New York State Pageant of the Stars being held in November for the 27th year at the Tiki Resort, Lake George, the release said.
The local pageant has openings in the following age groups: Baby boys and girls 0 to 12 months; baby boys and girls 13 to 24 months; boys and girls 2 to 3; boys and girls 4 to 5; boys and girls 6 to 8; Miss Pre-Teen girls 9 to 12; Miss Young Teen girls 13 to 15; Miss Teen girls 16 to 19; Ms. in three age groups 20 to 29, 30 to 39, and 40 plus. Ms. contestants can be either single or married and can have children.
The winners will receive paid entries to the New York State Pageant of the Stars as well as crowns, sashes of office and trophies. Every contestant in the pageant will receive a trophy for competing. In addition, there is a Most Photogenic competition based on pictures submitted by the contestants.
The entry fee for the pageant is $50 for babies up to 24 months old and $60 for older age groups. Contestants can find local merchants or organizations to sponsor them for the entry fee. The fee may be tax deductible to a business as advertising since they are listed in the program distributed at the pageant.

Contestants will be accepted right up to the date of the pageant but to be listed in the souvenir program, they must enter no later than Aug. 28, the news release said.
