Alwinnie R. Parker, 99, of Chestnut Street, Mayfield, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 30, 1912, in the town of Mayfield, the son of Neopolean and Mary Buyce Parker.
He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Italy. He was employed as a glove cutter. He was also employed by the City National Bank and was justice of the peace for the town of Mayfield for 27 years. He was a lifelong resident of the area, and he was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a founding member of the Mayfield Servicemen's Club.
On July 4 1955, he married Marilyn Baird Parker, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Cheryl Callis (Jerry) of Tennessee and Janis Inglis of Gloversville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren also survive. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, N.Y. Arrangements are by the Gloversville Funeral Home.
