Walter J. Vogel, age 83, of Gloversville, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville after a brief illness.
He was born on May 21, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Charles and Julia Vogel.
Mr. Vogel was employed with several breweries in Brooklyn from 1957 until 1983 and later moved to Syracuse. Hewas employed as a production operator for Anheuser-Busch until his retirement in 1985.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1947 until 1951 during the Korean Conflict.
Walter was a member of the American Legion Post 1815 of Brooklyn, American Legion Post 1261 of Schoharie County and the VFW Post 2161. He was also an avid Yankees fan.
He was predeceased by his wife Jonnean Vogel.
Survivors include one son, Frederick Vogel of Baldwinsville; one daughter, Dorothy LaDonna of Marion, North Carolina; one sister, Jeanette Yoneke of Glendale, New York; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Ward, Marissa Vogel and Linda DaSilva; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be conducted with military honors at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Calling hours for friends and family will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
