CANAJOHARIE - At Tuesday's Village Board meeting, Mayor Francis Avery announced there will be a new chief in charge of the village Police Department.

Bryan MacFadden, who served with the department from 2000 to 2009, was selected to replace Lenny Price, the current chief of police, who is leaving on permanent disability due to health problems.

MacFadden was one of nine applicants reviewed for the position.

Avery said MacFadden had spent time at the Cobleskill Police Department.

"We belive he will be a very good police chief," Avery said, describing MacFadden as young and energetic.

MacFadden will assume the post Aug. 27. Avery said he hopes MacFadden will have a long tenure with the department.
