Wells seniors report on activities

August 11, 2012
The Leader Herald

WELLS - The Wells Seniors updated news. In April the seniors had an ice cream social at the Hope Diner and played bingo.

In May: Sharon Grisenthwaite was honored as Contributing Senior and Dolores Margies was named Senior of the Year for Hamilton County at a banquet held at The Fort William Henry Hotel, Lake George, Warren County. Wells Town Supervisor Brian Towers presented the awards. There were 59 relatives and friends who attended the event. Several from the town were transported to this event by the Sacandaga Task Force bus. A day trip, "the lunch around," was held, which was organized by the group's trip committee. Many members took the trip. For the May social, the seniors were entertained by the music of Mike Boslet.

In June the group had their annual meeting, and elections took place. The new board for the year 2012-2013 are as follows: Alice Megargle, president; Edna Rew, vice president; Dolores Margies, secretary; Betty Lou Orr, treasurer; and Grace Lizak, alternate secretary/treasurer.

All Wells seniors can join the group; seasonal seniors as well as full-time residents are welcomed. The meetings, which take place at the Wells meal site, are every second Wednesday and the socials are every fourth Wednesday with day and overnight trips planned in between. For more information, call President Alice Megargle at 924-2220.
