Gerald L. Burgess, 75, of Upper Marlboro, Md., formerly of Gloversville, passed away on July 9, 2012.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1937, in Gloversville, the son of the late Lewis and Hazel Burgess. He was educated in Gloversville schools. He was last employed by USIS contractor for eight years for CIA.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Burgess of Maryland; his sister, Thelma Morrison of Gloversville; his daughters, Susana Smimmo and Tamara Meece, both of Gloversville. He is also survived by his stepchilden, David Knuth of Maryland, Dianne Gillis of Tennessee and William Young; three grandchildren, Michael (Wendy) Smimmo of Kodiak, Alaska, Jessica and Anthony Smimmo of Gloversville; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; his nephews, James (Robin) Morrison and Douglas (Brenda) Morrison of Gloversville; nieces, Cathy (Tom) Rubsha and Sharon Morrison Peters of Johnstown; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James F. Morrison; and his nephew, Brian L. Morrison.
