On August 6, 2012, Mr. Norbert J. Sherbunt II, Esq. lost a long and bravely fought battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was 69 years old.
A lifelong Amsterdam resident, Norbert was born on October 30, 1942, the son of the late Norbert J. and Bernice R. Sherbunt. He attended city schools and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1960. Norbert then went on to attend Syracuse University where he received his Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude in 1964. As such, he was most recently awarded the 2012 Amsterdam Wrestling Booster's Club, Pat Riley Award and was also inducted into the Amsterdam Mohawks Baseball Hall of Fame.
A community leader, Attorney Sherbunt was a member of the NYS Bar Association, The Montgomery County Bar Association and many other community and civic organizations. Notably, he served as a member and past president of the Montgomery County SPCA, an organization that was very dear to him.
Norbert was a kind and generous man who always provided assistance to anyone who needed it. Above all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Words cannot express how greatly he will be missed and how much he was loved.
