ROME, N.Y. - Daniel Smith, a graduate of Johnstown High School who now attends the University of Utah, has been awarded the Tony Pellegrino Award through the Drums Along the Mohawk organization.
The award will provide financial support to allow Smith to participate in Drum Corps International with the Cavaliers of Rosemont, Ill.
Drums Along the Mohawk will host a 20th anniversary celebration featuring several marching bands at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rome Free Academy Stadium.
