John W. Forsey, Sr., age 75, of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 25, 1937, in Amsterdam, a son of the late Andrew J. and Ruth E. Delarm Forsey.
Mr. Forsey honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Airborne Division from 1954 to 1957. He owned and operated Forsey's Tree Service for many years. John was a member and Past Commander of the VFW Post #562, Fultonville, the American Legion, Gloversville Moose, Eagles and many local fish and game clubs.
He is survived by his two sons John Forsey, Jr. of Johnstown and Jim (Michele) Forsey of Johnstown; five daughters Deborah (Bill) Frye of Gloversville, Lu-Ann (Jim) Griner of New Jersey, Tina (Jim) George of Ephratah, Lori Forsey of Tannersville and Melissa (Bart) Richtmyer of Fultonville; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two brothers, Harry Forsey and Andy Forsey, one sister Gertrude Carpenter, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joe Forsey and David Forsey.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, August 2nd. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and a service to follow at 11 a.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
Interment will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville.
