William E. Johnson, 80, of Ephratah passed away on Friday, July 27, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady after a brief illness.
He was born on May 11, 1932, in Gloversville, a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth "Betty" Dineen Johnson. William was a Class of 1950 graduate of Johnstown High. He honorably served in his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Johnson was the highway superintendent for the town of Ephratah for many years. He was of the Methodist faith, a member of the VFW, the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club, and the Bleecker Rod and Gun Club.
Mr. Johnson is survived by: two sons, Don Johnson of Fairport and Alan Johnson of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; one daughter, Vicki (Chris) Marshall of Bleecker; one brother, James L. (Marlene) Johnson of Ephratah; one sister, Karen Covert of Trumansburg; six grandchildren Kayla Johnson, Kelsie Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Brianna Marshall, Callahan Marshall and Hunter Marshall; his longtime companion and best friend Jeannette Alkinburgh, one sister-in-law Patricia Johnson and several nieces, nephews, cousins and stepchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
