FULTONVILLE - Jeremy Wilder closed out the month of July at The Ridge in style.

The modified pilot out of Fort Plain scored his second feature win of the season last week and backed it up with another Sunday night at the quarter-mile dirt track.

While Wilder grabbed his second-straight, Rob VanAernam made it three in a row and completed a sweep of the three-race Harry's Auto Street Stock Series.

Also picking up feature wins Sunday at The Ridge were Harry Shaffer (sportsman), Greg Hancock (rookie sportsman) and Chuck Wainright Jr. (cruisers).

Danny Varin and Jim Becker brought the field of 18 modifieds to the green with Varin taking command.

Varin was challenged first by Becker then Craig Hanson.

Hanson was able to pull alongside Varin several times but could not find a clear path through to the front. With the laps clicking off and the leaders mired in traffic, Hanson tried the top side, which opened the door for Wilder, and he jumped at the opportunity to take over second.

Three laps later, with 10 laps to go, Wilder dove under Varin exiting turn four to lead by a car length at the flag stand.

With five laps remaining, it was a Varin drag race on the front stretch as Bobby slipped past Danny to take over second. However, there were not enough laps remaining for the elder Varin to chase down the leader as Wilder crossed under the checkers for his third career modified feature win at The Ridge.

Bobby Varin was second, followed by Danny Varin, Hanson, Marc Johnson, Dustin Delaney, Becker, Justin Boehler, Rocky Warner and Mike Ketchum.

Chuck McSpirit held the early lead in the 25-lap Harry's Auto Street Stock Series main event before relinquishing the lead to VanAernam on lap seven.

With the race running under green-flag conditions, VanAernam went unchallenged on the front end to pick up his seventh win of the season and third in as many weeks as well as his 19th career street stock feature win at The Ridge.

McSpirit held off Greg Havlicek for second, followed by Jason Samrov, Roger Newkirk Jr., Randy Cosselman, Andy Graves, Justin Smith and Ellis Shaffer.

Kurtis Hohensheldt set the early pace in the 25-lap sportsman feature and held Shaffer at bay for the first 11 laps.

Shaffer found some extra bite off turn four and came away with the lead on lap 12. With the race running caution-free, Shaffer pulled away for his second win of the season. Korey Wilder got up for second with Chad Edwards third, Hohensheldt fourth and Tony Farone fifth.

Greg Pessolano, Rocky Warner, Leo Sousie, Chris Schaffer and Brian Pessolano made up the second five.

Hancock broke through for his first career feature win in the Rookie division in only his sixth week of competition. Brad Sitterly was second followed by Mike Jackson, A.J. Prime, Buck Gasner, Dave Grace and Aaron Burton.

Racing is scheduled to return to The Ridge next Sunday with a full regular race card plus kiddie rides.
