Luella Mae Plunkett, 94, of Ridge Road, Broadalbin, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at the Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville after a brief illness. She was in the loving company of her family.
Born in Amsterdam on May 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Minnie Neuland Scott and lived in this area her entire life. A homemaker, she devoted her time to being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many along her life's journey. She enjoyed ceramics and gardening, loved family camping and fishing trips to Canada, and always seemed to catch the largest and most fish of anyone. As the matriarch of the family, she will be sorely missed. Luella was of the Protestant faith.
Her husband, Charles Plunkett, predeceased her on June 1, 1987. Brothers Robert and Harold Scott, and stepbrothers Leonard and Aloysius Burtman also predeceased her.
She leaves her loving family, daughter Claudia Diehsner-Harrison of Mayfield, son Michael and his wife, Christine Plunkett, of Broadalbin; grandchildren Christopher Plunkett, Kelly MacDougall and Kathy Stangle; great-grandchildren Anthony and Todd Denino and Kayla Wells, and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. A private service will take place Tuesday at the convenience of the family with interment in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Luella's name to the Mountain Valley Hospice in care of the funeral home office. Her family is most grateful for her brief but wonderful care she received there. Please visit her family's on-line guestbook at www.brbsfuneral.com.
