July 27, 2012
The Leader Herald

JOHNSTOWN - All YMCA Camp Agaming Alumnae are invited to attend the Fourth Annual Alumnae Day and Picnic on Aug. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at the YMCA at 213 Harrison St.

All are invited to share camp songs, stories, skits, photos and memories followed by a camp picnic and snacks.

Last year's event was attended by alumnae from the 1930s, '40s and '50s.

Agaming is an Indian name that means "By the Water" and was the name of the original Gloversville boys resident camp on Lake Pleasant in Speculator that operated from the 1920s to the 1960s and included famous alumni such as actor Kirk Douglas, a news release said.

Camp Agaming is for children ages 6 to 13 and runs through Aug. 31.

Camp Iroquois is for children ages 4 and 5 and runs through Aug. 31.

There are limited openings for both camps.

To RSVP for the picnic, call 848-3447 and ask for Jes Walker or email jwalker@fultoncountyymca.org.
