Since the words to the national anthem were written in 1814, I don't understand why today's Washingtonians say that "In God we Trust" should be taken off our money, etc.
Could it be that they are just plain ignorant of history and a lot more? They wish to socialize medical services and God must be standing in their way.
The fourth verse of "The Star-Spangled Banner" is seldom heard:
O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand.
Between their loved home and the war's desolation.
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just.
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave.
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Many of us fought in the wars. Many men and women have died in service to our country. This is our star-spangled banner and this is the way we want it to be.
