Shirley M. Marlitt, 74, formerly of 52 E. Pine St., Gloversville, N.Y., passed away July 19, 2012, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, N.Y. She was born Jan. 30, 1938, in the town of Johnstown, the daughter of Melvin and Flossie Kennedy Lamb and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Howard G. Marlitt on May 13, 1972, and he passed away in 1989. Mrs. Marlitt was employed as a domestic for local families for over 25 years and was last employed as a respite aide for Lexington Center. She was a member of the Bleecker Street Church of Christ, WOW of St. Mary's Hospital, and TOPS Chapter 735. She is survived by nieces, Ilene Kalem, Mary (Chuck) Caputo, Lynn Harris, Robin (Randy) Benedict, Kandie (Michael) Vining, Crystal (Rob) St. Andrews, Charlene (Joe) Slaver, Melissa Morse and Pennie (Alan) Atty-Dutcher. She is also survived by a brother-in-law and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters, Bertha Baker, Dora Harris and Eva Lamb; and two brothers, Robert and Melvin Lamb. Shirley enjoyed her time helping people, enjoyed the world from her front porch and was especially fond of her cats, Missy, Cinderella, Reeses and Peanut Butter. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the Ehle Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in North Bush Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lexington Center.
