MAYFIELD -The Bannertown 50 Plus Club met July 11. Before the Office for the Aging luncheon was served, Patrick Keane read from Ecclesiastes and led the group in prayer.
To open the meeting, President Carl Edwards led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Vice President Linda LaVada called the roll with 22 in attendance.
Edwards read the obituary of Patricia Carrol, who recently died. She and her late husband were long time members. A collection was taken and will be sent to Hospice as was requested.
The meeting was turned over to Cathy Rhors, a registered nurse and a counselor for patients with diabetes at Nathan Littauer Hospital. She said that there is an epidemic of diabetes in Fulton County. She stressed the importance of the size of portions of food consumed as well as the carbohydrates ingested.
The meeting was resumed with the reports of secretary and treasurer.
The sunshine chairperson had sent a card to Marvel Murray and birthday cards to members.
The cookie committee for the July 25, meeting will be Nancy Hayes and Joan Himes.
