Frances M. Salsbury, 87, died Monday evening, July 16, 2012, at Ellis Hospital with family at her side.
She was born in Cobleskill, a daughter of Frank and Ada Emerson Ullman and was a 1942 graduate of Sharon Springs High School. Mrs. Salsbury resided in Verona for many years before moving to Amsterdam in 1991. Recently, she lived with her daughter in Gloversville before becoming a resident of the Baptist Retirement Center in Scotia.
Mrs. Salsbury was employed for many years in Verona as a jet fuel guard and later she worked at Amsterdam Printing & Litho.
She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schenectady.
On August 29, 1944, she was married to John Harder Salsbury. He died on February 8, 2008. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Ann, who died June 21, 1958; and four brothers, Richard, Joel, Wilbur, and Kenneth Ullman.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Fred Ryder of Gloversville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was preformed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nott Terrace in Schenectady, with Rev. Shawn Dugan officiating and her daughter, Deacon Karen Ryder assisting. Burial of remains will take place at Sharon Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown.
