City school board re-elects president

GLOVERSVILLE - The city Board of Education recently re-elected President Pete Semione.

Frank Carangelo was re-elected vice president.

There were challenges to both elections.

Board member Joseph Andrews nominated Rob Curtis to be president, seconded by new board member Mike Hauser. Curtis received three votes. Polly Peck nominated Pete Semione for president, with E. Lynn Brown seconding the nomination. Semione received six votes.

For board vice president, Curtis nominated Andrews with a second by Hauser. Brown then nominated Frank Carangelo for vice president, and Peck seconded the choice. Carangelo carried the vote, 6-3.

New board members for 2012-13 are Richard Carlson and Jean LaPorta.

Semione said he enjoys the president's role and that he and Carangelo work well together.
