Human remains found in Montgomery County

July 19, 2012
The Leader Herald

AMSTERDAM Authorities found the remains of two people today in a field off Snooks Corners Road in the town of Florida.

Officials say the deaths are considered suspicious. State police crime scene technicians from the forensics investigation unit were on the scene this afternoon, and the Amsterdam Police Department was providing assistance, according to a news release from the department.

Police said in the news release this afternoon it was too early to determine whether the remains are those of missing youths who were reported to Amsterdam police recently. Johnathan DeJesus, 13, and Paul Damphier, 16, Amsterdam residents, went missing July 9, police said earlier this week.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Amsterdam police at 842-1100 and ask to speak with an investigator or a detective.

More on this story will appear in Friday's print edition of The Leader-Herald.
