Robert A. Perrone, age 89, of Gloversville N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born on August 1, 1922, in Gloversville, a son of the late Edward and Matilda Morali Perrone. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School. Mr. Perrone owned and operated West Brook Glove Company Inc. of Gloversville and later operated along with his wife The Leather Shop for 13 years on the Arterial.
Mr. Perrone was a member of the First Free Methodist Church of Gloversville. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Henry; one son, Robert E. Perrone of Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepsons, William H. Brindle and Richard E. Brindle, both of Gloversville; two daughters, Karen Dixon of Gloversville and Deborah Perrone-Skinner of Johnstown; one brother, Rene Perrone (Winifred) of Schoharie, N.Y.; one sister, Claudia Decristofaro of Gloversville; ten grandchildren, Marybeth Mills, Emily Brindle, Ryan Brindle, Nicole Valovic, Michael Ambrosino, Amy Ambrosino, Alex Perrone, Leilani Skinner, Jesse Perrone and Christopher Perrone; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 14 siblings, Joseph, Edward, Peter, Adolph, Mario, Jennie, Louise, Hope, Blanche, Olympia, Mary, Magaret, Martha and Thersa.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon on Friday, July 20, at the First Free Methodist Church, Phelps Street, Gloversville, with Rev. Wilton Sharpe officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y.
