AMSTERDAM- City police are searching for a man who robbed a gas station at gunpoint Monday night.
At approximately 9:47 p.m., the city Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at Five Corners Mobil, a gas station located at 165 Church St. Police said the two cashiers told officers a man entered the station and drew a gun, demanding money. The robber got an undetermined sum of money, then escaped on foot, police said. The culprit was last seen on Reid Street, running from the store, police said. Neither of the two cashiers were harmed during the robbery.
Mark Ottai, owner of the Five Corners Mobil, said he is hopeful that police will catch the robber.

"Hopefully it's a local," Ottati said.
Detective Lieutenant Kurt Conroy said the police had leads on the case, but he was not ready to divulge any of them.
Conroy said this robbery is not connected to any other crime they can uncover.
The gas station had security cameras installed, which caught the crime on camera and gave the police an idea of who they are after.
The suspect is described as approximately 5 feet-5 inches tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a gray-and-red longsleeve T-shirt, long denim shorts, dark socks pulled up to his knees, a black baseball cap with light colored writing on it, and a dark ski mask.
The security camera caught footage of the culprit walking in the front door at 9:47 p.m., drawing his gun. The next still showed the man intimidating the two cashiers who are off screen.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the department at 842-1100 and ask to speak to a detective. All calls will remain anonymous.
