Golden Eagles walk off with win over Mohawks

GLENS FALLS - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles continue to haunt the Amsterdam Mohawks.

Half of Amsterdam's eight losses have come against the Golden Eagles, who scored Monday night's victory in walk-off fashion.

Chase Griffin doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning against Mohawks reliever Connor Kaden, plating Alberto Morales. Earlier in the inning, Morales had doubled to plate Casey Rodrigue with the tying run.

Josh Nethaway, who finished with three RBIs, gave the Mohawks the lead in the ninth inning when he singled home Zak Colby.

Nethaway had tied the game in the seventh inning when he delivered a two-run single.

Rodrigue led the Golden Eagles (18-17) with three hits, including a triple and a double, and two runs scored.

Glens Falls is 8 1/2 games behind the Mohawks in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League standings, and holds the final playoff spot by a half-game over the Oneonta Outlaws.

The first-place Mohawks, lead the second place Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs by five games. They will host the Diamond Dawgs at 7:05 p.m. tonight and travel to Little Falls for a game Thursday.

The Diamond Dawgs have won 12 straight. Their last loss came against the Albany Dutchmen on July 5.
