PALATINE - Deputies said an anonymous tip to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on Saturday led to the rescue of an emaciated dog and the arrest of a 28-year-old man.
Deputies said the tip led them to the residence of John Joseph Scott Jr., at 5 Berthoud St., Nelliston. Deputies said the dog, which was so thin its ribs were visible, was found at the rear of the residence. Neither water nor food for the dog was nearby, deputies said.
The dog's owner was unable to be contacted at that time, deputies said. The dog was removed from the property and brought to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter in Sprakers for care.
Scott was charged with neglect of an impounded animal.
Scott was issued a ticket to appear in Town Court on Aug. 2 and released.
