Paul J. Dite Jr., 78, of Marco Island, Florida, formerly a resident of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away peacefully on July 12, 2012, at the Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, with his loving daughters at his side.
Paul was born on October 12, 1933, in Brooklyn, a son of the late Paul Dite and Anna Hemburger Dite. Upon graduation from St. John's Prep School, Paul attended St. John's University where he received his bachelor's degree. He worked for many years as Vice President of Bankers Trust after he moved his family to Johnstown. Paul was also employed with Massachusetts Mutual Life in Springfield, Mass., where he retired in 1993.
Mr. Dite was of the Catholic faith, a parishioner of the former St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown and a member of the San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, Fla. He was a member of the Johnstown Rotary Club and Johnstown Knights of Columbus, while living in Johnstown.
On October 8, 1955, he was united in marriage to June Mazoyer Dite, who predeceased him on August 29, 2010.
Mr. Dite is survived by his three daughters, June (Thomas) Muto of Wolcott, N.Y., Gayle (E.J.) Maye of Johnstown, N.Y., Kathleen (James) Hervol of Hopkington, Mass.; five grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Mott, Katie (Erik) Nelson, Thomas Muto Jr. and Katelyn and Jimmy Hervol; two brothers, Gerard (Norma) Dite, Robert (Linda) Dite; and two sisters, Anne (Joseph) Blatz, Linda (Michael) Casatelli; a brother in-law Leon, (Dee) Mazoyer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made in Paul's memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, in care of San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, FL 34145.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, August 3, at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown, N.Y. Interment will be in San Marco Memorial Gardens, Marco Island, Fla. at the convenience of the family.
