In response to Mr. Nellis' letter to the editor "Deception keeps America from God," published July 3:
With all do respect, sir, you are very difficult to follow and you sound very confused. Without a perfect, inerrant and infallible Bible, you have no final authority and are left to drown in a sea of opinions of the free thinkers of the world.
"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." (Eph. 4:14.)
You are correct; Americans are deceived because they reject the authority of the Bible and view those who do receive it as the word of truth as being in bondage, when in fact they are the ones who are free. "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32.)
And those who reject it are in bondage. "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie; That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12.)
What is truth? The Bible is truth. In John 17:17, Jesus said his word is truth. In 2 Tim. 2:15, it says "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
But that does little for you, if you don't believe you have an inerrant Bible.
"For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." (2 Thessalonians 2:13.)
There is a famine, and people are going hungry because they cannot find the truth.
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord." (Amo. 8:11.)
