The Hamilton County Youth Board is sponsoring its third annual Family Fun Day on Aug. 6 at the Speculator Ball Field/Pavilion from 2 to 6 p.m.
The goal of this popular event is for family members of all ages to have fun in a tobacco-, alcohol- and gambling-free event at little-to-no cost. It also is a way to share information about our services and resources available to our residents here in Hamilton County.
We are asking for your support for this wonderful event. Since our funding has been drastically cut, we are seeking cash donations to cover the cost of the Flame concert, bounce houses, rock wall and giveaways for children.
We also are in need of donations of family-themed giveaway baskets to be awarded periodically throughout the event. Some examples of themed baskets from last year's event include: beach, games, reading, camping, pet care, outdoor games, coloring, school supplies, baking, outdoor safety, fishing, biking, girl/boy baskets, jewelry, food, gardening, sports, stamping, arts and crafts, etc. We welcome any ideas for baskets or prizes as long as it is family-friendly.
In order to run the equipment and manage all that is going on throughout the Fun Day, we also are looking for loans of generators, extension cords, tables and tents, as well as volunteers to work throughout the event.
If you have any questions about Family Fun Day, or if you would like to make a donation (either as an individual or as a group), or to volunteer equipment or time, please call myself, Allison Braunius, or Joe SanAntonio at Hamilton County Community Services at 648-5355.
Please make all checks payable to the HFM Prevention Council, memo Family Fun Day. Remember that donations are tax-deductible as well.
Prize donations can be dropped off either at our office in Indian Lake or at the Speculator Region Chamber of Commerce. Monetary donations can be mailed to HFM Prevention Council, 86 Briggs St., Suite 5, Johnstown, NY 12095.
Last year, we were overwhelmed by the support we received for the Family Fun Day from local businesses, organizations and residents.
We had more than 550 attend last year's Family Fun Day. With your support, we can continue to make this a free and fun day for families. Thank you in advance for your support.
