It seems to me because Mayfield's Paradise Point Road is a good straight-away road, people in vehicles tend to make up time for some reason or another.
Let me say this as one who has lived on this road since the 1960s: many deer and other large animals - from woodchucks to bears, but generally deer - cross this road constantly.
If you don't have complete control of the vehicle at the speed you are traveling, whatever vehicle you are driving, you may find you may be mixing your blood with the animal you hit. Then again, if you keep your top speed around 40 mph, you might survive by having good brakes.
It's lucky the moose don't hang around here very long.
