Broadalbin woman stole purses: deputies

FONDA - A Broadalbin woman was arrested Friday in connection with a spate of recent purse thefts, the Montgomery?County Sheriff's Office said.

Roxanne M.?Sharp, 49, of 5137?Crooked St., was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.

Deputies allege that on five separate occasions since May 24, Sharp entered businesses on Route 30 North in the town of Amsterdam. She stole shoppers' purses while they were momentarily unattended in shopping carts, deputies said.

Deputies said they responded to three of the five complaints earlier this week, and a fourth theft Friday led to Sharp's arrest.

Sharp was arraigned and sent to the Montgomery?County?Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail.
