July 12, 2012
The Leader Herald

STRATFORD -Fulton County sheriff's deputies said an Ilion motorist who got into an argument with his girlfriend and drove off drunk was charged Tuesday night with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and unreasonable speed.

Deputies said Mark J. Ballou, 40, of 265 W. Main St., was charged at 6 p.m. following an accident on Stewart Landing. Deputies said Ballou was having an argument with his girlfriend while drinking some beers, and he drove off at a high rate of speed. Deputies said he lost control of his vehicle on a gravel-covered road and slid into oncoming traffic before his vehicle struck a tree.

Ballou suffered a neck injury and was taken to Little Falls Hospital.

He will appear at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Town Court.
