Nelliston Days scheduled for weekend in village park

NELLISTON - The Nelliston Activities Council will have its 21st annual Nelliston Days, craft show and flea market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Nelliston Park, along with the villagewide garage sales.

There will be food both days at Randy's Kitchen, starting with breakfast items along with hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sweet sausage, hot sausage, peppers and onions, french fries, salt potatoes, fried dough, coffee, tea, lemonade, soda and water, a news release said.

There will also be soft ice cream from Phoebe's of Fort Plain both days.

The event will include face painting, free balloons, raffles all day with prizes from many merchant donations, many crafters and flea-market vendors, a dunking booth and J & M Amusements from Cold Brook, Herkimer County.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and New York state police have been invited, along with the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance, the news release said.

On Saturday, music will be provided by Big Al's rock and roll show from noon to 4 p.m. along with the annual cruise-in car show.

Trophies will be awarded. There will be a chicken barbecue by Ted's Barbecue and Grill from 11 a.m. until it is sold out.

On Sunday, Jan Cronkhite and Jim Miller will provide music from 1 to 4 p.m. Tony Mattoli of Mountain Cycle Performance will give a demonstration on his Nitro Harley motorcycle at 2 p.m.

Kevin Florian will give remote-control car demonstrations and the Amvet Riders Post 2000 will have a motorcycle ride-in.

The admission to the park is free.

The Nelliston Activities Council is a nonprofit group. The annual event supports the children's playground, the annual Halloween haunted house and other seasonal activities, the release said.
