Michael L. Sawyer, 48, of Sprakers, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam on July 7, 2012. Michael was born on September 7, 1963, to the late Gary and Janet Sawyer Groves; his mother survives him.
On July 28, 1984, Michael married Lisa Warner.
Their family was complete with the arrival of their only child, Michelle.
Michael retired in 2010 as a Plant Manager after many years of service for Somerset Industries. Through many of his health issues Michael still worked and carried on. He refused to let his illness get the better of him.
Michael was given the gift of life from his brother, William, and his sister, Mavis after they both donated their kidneys to him. The bond shared by the siblings made their already close relationship stronger.
Michael will be remembered warmly for his love of family and friends. His grandson, Ian was the light of his world. He was the best son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Michael was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Michelle of Canajoharie; grandson, Ian Michael; his mother, Janet Groves of Johnstown; his siblings, Kimberly (Ernest) Bombard of Johnstown, Mavis Stanley of Gloversville, Becky (Barry) Sullivan of Indiana and William of Johnstown; his brothers-in-law, David and Steven Warner; and many nieces and nephews.
