Iris Ramirez, 81, of Gloversville, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012.
Iris was born in Puerto Rico, the daughter of Jose and Carmen Ramirez. She was raised by her grandmother while her parents were getting settled in the Bronx, N.Y. When she was a young girl, her grandmother brought her to New York to be with her parents. She is the youngest of seven brothers and sisters.
Iris was born with physical disabilities and was a challenge to her family; so over the years she was placed in many institutions. Eventually Iris went to live at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home and bonded with her friend, Mary Salisbury right away. She became a part of Mary's family and has been truly loved. When Iris needed to be in a more social atmosphere and to have more one on one contact, she came to be at Lexington. There she began to open up and joined a new and loving family.
Iris loved to laugh and was very talkative. Ever a true lady, she liked to dress up and wear jewelry. She will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her seven siblings; loving friend Mary Salisbury; and all of her friends and family at Mountain View 1.
Mary would like to thank the staff and consumers of Cutter and Mountain View 1 for all the love and compassion brought into Iris's life.
