Anna Duchala, age 85, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born on April 25, 1927, in Cary, Slovakia, the daughter of the late John and Emily Juriga Jurica. Anna and her family came to the United States, when she was six years old. She was a Class of 1946 graduate of Johnstown High School. Mrs. Duchala was employed for many years as an Account Clerk for the New York State Department of Conservation in Northville until her retirement in 1990. She was of the Catholic faith, a parishioner of the former St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Christian Women of St. Anthony's.
Survivors include two sons, Frank (Debbie) Duchala of North Kingstown, Rhode Island and John (Cindy) Duchala of Greenville, Delaware; one daughter, MaryAnn (Tony) Russitano of Caroga Lake; seven grandchildren, Amy Ault, Meredith Dalmage, Adam Russitano, Kaitlin Russitano, Todd Duchala, Adelyn Duchala and Patrick Duchala; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of over 55 years, Ignatius Duchala; one daughter, Kathleen Dalmage; and one brother, Blase Jurica.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, at the Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown. Family and friends may call prior to the Mass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in Anna's memory to the charity of one's choice.
