Mrs. Arlene Howland Hilly, age 94, of Gloversville, died Monday evening, July 2, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
She was born February 22, 1918, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Floyd and Grace Fancher Howland. Arlene was a 1935 graduate of Gloversville High School. She later received her teaching degree from Potsdam and Syracuse Universities. She was a teacher for many years at McNab, Columbia, McKinley and Kingsborough schools.
Mrs. Hilly was a member of North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.
Arlene is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Gordon T. Hilly. They were married on August 12, 1950. Her sister, Hazel Howland Mowrey, predeceased her in 2003.
A funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
