JOHNSTOWN - The first concert of the 2012 summer season for the Johnstown Citizens Band will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Jenner band shell downtown.
The band will celebrate the beginning of its 104th year of providing summer concerts.
Citizens Band President Doug Dougherty will conduct the performance.
A?memorial musical remembrance of longtime band member and officer David Aldrich, who died earlier this year, will be featured.
Music will include "The Star Spangled Banner" arranged by Jack Stamp, "Strike Up The Band" by Gershwin, "Lights Out March" by McCoy, "Lincoln Center Overture" by Hermann, "Amazing Grace" by Ticheli, "Invercargill March" by Lithgow, "America First March" by Sousa, "Armed Forces - The Pride of America," "American Sea Rhapsody" by Cacavas and "From Sea To Shining Sea" by Barker.
Spectators are asked to bring lawn chairs.
The concert is free and open to the public.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be canceled. There will be no indoor venue for this year's concerts, a news release said.
The concerts are sponsored, in part, by the city of Johnstown and donations from area merchants and patrons.
