Bernard ‘Bernie’ C. Henderson Jr.

Bernard "Bernie" C. Henderson Jr., 64, of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away peacefully June 29, 2012, at Ellis Hospital. Bernard was currently living for the last year and a half in the Avenue Nursing and Rehab Center in Schenectady.

Bernard was born September 30, 1947, to the late Bernard C. Henderson Sr. and the former Grace Blowers-Henderson. He spent most of his years working in the shipping department for the old Fulton County Silk Mill. He also had worked for several years at the Price Chopper in Johnstown, N.Y. Bernard had many activities that he enjoyed dearly. He loved to take trips to casinos and horse racing tracks. He also loved to attended many carnivals and fairs. Bernard was an active member in the Gloversville Senior Center group in Gloversville, along with the 55 Plus Club that gathered at the senior center. Bernard often enjoyed playing Wii Bowling. He was an avid bingo player, playing cards, and love watching the New York Giants football. Bernard associated with the Trinity Episcopal Church in Gloversville.

Bernard is survived by his two loving sisters, Thelma Dennie (Gary) of Gloversville and Eleanor Cowles of Fonda. Bernard was predeceased by his parents; and older sister, Irene Oare; and half brothers and sisters.

There will be a graveside dervice at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Union Rural Cemetery, commonly known as the Mayfield Cemetery, in Mayfield, N.Y. 12117. In lieu of flowers, Bernard's family asks that donations be given to the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
