Fire destroys garage in Gloversville

GLOVERSVILLE-A North Main Street garage was destroyed Sunday in a fire, which also damaged several surrounding buildings.

The Gloversville Fire Department received a report of black smoke coming from a garage at 401 N. Main St. at 2:48 p.m.

Upon arrival, Capt. Jason Sweet said firefighters found the building on fire and four surrounding buildings in danger of catching fire.

In a news release, the Fire Department said quick action to control the fire saved the other buildings.

The news release stated the garage where the fire started was "a total loss."

The surrounding buildings were slightly damaged. Several trees were significantly damaged.

No one was injured in the fire, which remained under investigation this morning by the Fire Department.

Fire officials had no other information, including a possible cause.
