John C. Orloff Sr., 80, of McKinley Ave., Northville, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at home after being stricken. He was born on June 4, 1932, in Gloversville, N.Y. The son of the late; Stephen and Lillian Papa Orloff.
Mr. Orloff was a graduate of Gloversville High School and employed as a Police Lieutenant for the Gloversville Police Department until his retirement. He then started his own private investigator practice working for many local attorneys in the area. He also served as Town Justice for the town of Northampton for many years.
He was a former member of the Pine Brook Golf Club, a former member of the Gloversville Merchant Bowling League, a member and past president of the Fulton County Sheriffs Association and a member of the New York State Magistrates Association. He was also an avid Yankees and Giants fan and loved playing golf.
Survivors include his wife; Diane Adelman Orloff of Northville whom he married on December 23, 1978. Two sons; John Orloff Jr. of Northville and Chris Orloff of Gloversville. One daughter; Lisa Staley of California. Two brothers; Hugo and Steve Orloff both of Gloversville. Several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive him.
In accordance with John's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
