FONDA - The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to accept the bids of two transportation companies to bus preschool and early intervention programs.

The resolution allows two separate bus companies to provide transportation for Montgomery County Public Health Department preschool and early intervention programs. The two companies, Brown Bus Services and Northland, will each be given several routes to cover.

Board Vice Chairman and Chairman of Finance John W. Thayer said the county could have spent $60,000 dollars less. There was a bid open for almost $387,000 versus the final accepted offer of more than $446,000. With the county's deficit at about $4 million, the supervisor from?Root expressed his concern.

"$60,000 is almost two people who work for the county," Thayer said.

Board member and St. Johnsville Supervisor Dominick Stagliano, also voted no on the resolution.
