William Charles Harris

William Charles Harris, age 74, of West Galway, New York, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

As a young man, he worked as a salesman for the Almor Company and later worked for Sonoco Products. He was a lifelong resident of Galway, New York and a member of the West Galway Presbyterian Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and skeet shooting. He was a longstanding member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club, Ilion Fish & Game Club and SaraSpa Rod and Gun Club.

He was the son of the late Charles and Polly (Jones) Harris and was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Zeppetelli Harris; his grandson, Randy France; and his great-grandson, Caleb Askew.

He is survived by his brother, Dick (Nancy); his brothers-in-law, Clark Bell and Billy Zeppetelli (Laura); his daughters, Virginia Harris (Rick), Karen Riddle and Kim Harris; his daughter-in-law, Rita Werner (Jim); his stepdaughter, Kathy Welsh (Greg); his niece, Barbara Hartz (Bruce); and nephew, R.T. Harris(Lynn); his grandchildren, Michael France (Kim), Angela Owens (Will), Kim Riddle (Brandon), Billy Reed, Erin Werner, Allison Sheilds, Christopher Vroman and Sarah Vroman, Jim Welsh; his great-grandchildren, Isabella Owens, Abigail France, Zachary Olsen-Riddle and Maya Riddle.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 29, 2012, at 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in West Galway. Linda Martin will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Galway Public Library, Galway, New York or to Holston United Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, Tenn.
