Area baseball, softball players named all-stars

AMSTERDAM - Several Amsterdam baseball and softball players were among those who earned Big 10 Conference all-star honors.

From the Amsterdam baseball team, seniors Tom Miller and Chris Carbone were named first-team Big 10 all-stars.

Miller hit .417 this season with eight doubles and two triples. He also finished with 16 RBIs.

Carbone hit .328 with a double, three RBIs and 15 runs scored. Carbone also went 5-2 on the mound with a 3.07 ERA.

LaSalle's Zach Remillard was named the Big 10 Player of the Year.

Named to the first team as pitchers were Troy's Michael Pastore, Catholic Central's Drew Ingalsbe (Catholic Central), Schenectady's Cole Gozalkowski, CBA's Jackson Raimo and Bishop Maginn's John Sica (Bishop Maginn),

Troy's Zeb Gaston, Catholic Central's Jack LaRoux and CBA's Ted Cillis were named first-team infielders, while Troy's Joe Jordan, CBA's Matt Sand, LaSalle's Will McMullen were named to the first team as outfielders.

Catcher Kyle Sacks of LaSalle and Brad Adams of Catholic Central were named to the first team, along with Troy's Christian Maldonado and Vinnie LeClair, who earned first-team honors as utility players.

Zach Dufel, Ayden Healy and Ethan Kisielis were named to the second team for the Rams.

Dufel went 4-2 on the mound with a 2.12 ERA, while Healy hit .321 with three doubles, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Kisielis hit .362 with 12 runs scored and 12 RBIs.

Julian Gallup, Kolbie Glionna and Andrew Rouse all earned honorable mention status for Amsterdam.

Ashley Przybylowicz was the lone first-team selection for the Amsterdam softball team.

Catholic Central's Anna Cochis was named the league's Most Valuable Player.

Also earning first-team honors were Catholic Central's Hannah Kutny and Shelby Fenton, as well as Bishop Gibbons' Joelle Salisbury and Alyssa Salisbury.

Troy's Lauren Omelia and Alina Germinerio also were named to the first team, while Schenectady's Rachel Rose and C'quoya Haughton also earned first-team honors. Albany's Gina Torres rounded out the first team selections.

Bayley Archinal, Courtney Rosser, and Amanda Mullarkey earned honorable mention status for the Lady Rams.

MVAC

WELLS - The Wells baseball team had two players named first-team Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference all-stars.

Junior Jake Earley and sophomore Seth Weaver both earned first-team honors for the Indians.

Earley led Wells with a .371 average and led the team in extra base hits and RBIs.

Weaver earned three of the Indians' four wins on the mound, striking out 70 and finishing with a 1.49 ERA. Weaver also hit .333 at the plate for Wells and led the team in stolen bases.

Minerva-Newcomb's Morgan Winslow and Indian Lake-Long Lake's Colin Farrell shared the MVAC Division II MVP award.

Also named to the first team were Minerva-Newcomb's Austin Williams and Justin Viele; Indian Lake-Long Lake's Matt Moore, Wesley LaBar and Sam Miller; and Johnsburg's Liam Harrison and Dustin Weller.

Minerva-Newcomb earned the Division II sportsmanship award.

Crown Point's Nathan Tabor was named the MVAC Division I MVP.

Also named first-team MVAC Division I all-stars were Crown Point's Mike Dushane, Jon Spaulding, Tanner Macey and Gabe Macey; Chazy's Kyle Bisonette and Austin Santor; Schroon Lake's Matt Savarie and Jeff Armstrong; and Elizabethtown's Hunter Mowery.

Westport earned the Division I sportsmanship award.

For the Wells softball team, Karlie Tomlinson was named a MVAC Division II first-team all-star.

Indian Lake-Long Lake junior pitcher Emma Gray was named Most Valuable Player. Also named to the first team were Indian Lake-Long Lake's Madison Miller; Minerva-Newcomb's Shelby Hogan, Ashley Miller, Tara Galusha and MacKenzie Winslow; and Keene's Anne Kowanko, Taylor Geiger and Emma Gother.

Center State Conference

DOLGEVILLE - Several Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah baseball and softball players were among those earning Center State Conference Division II all-star honors.

For the baseball team, senior Jesse Warner was named to the first team for Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Herkimer's Bryan McGuire was named the CSC Division II Most Valuable Player.

Also named to the first team were Herkimer's Gio Aceto, Stephen Scialdo and Mike Dobek, as well as Mohawk's Jared Marquissee, Jason Congilaro and Paul Joyce. West Canada Valley's Tyler Porter, Frank Dufford and Mike Sternberg also earned first-team honors along with Little Falls' Josh Martin and Tyler Baumeister. Frankfort-Schuyler's Carl DeRollo and Justin Kiestow rounded out the first team.

David Levey earned honorable mention status for Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Herkimer won the division title with an 8-2 record, while Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah was sixth with an 0-10 league mark.

For the Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah softball team, Katelyn Winkler was the lone first-team selection.

Herkimer's Katheryn Dolly and Alyssa Schiavi shared CSC Division II Most Valuable Player honors.

Also named to the first team were Rachel Waseleski (Herkimer), Sarah Kinney (Herkimer), Amy Hart (Little Falls), Ashley Giaquinto (Little Falls), Kaitlyn Duesler (Little Falls), Lexy Johnson (Mohawk), Adrienne Ceneviva (Mohawk), Audrey Bunce (Mohawk), Kat Tamburro (Frankfort-Schuyler), Jamie Zipko (Frankfort-Schuyler), Meghan Louis (West Canada Valley) and Kalli Warmingham (West Canada Valley).

Kristen Lansburg, Courtney Rachon and Kaitlyn Lyon earned honorable mention status for Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Herkimer won the CSC Division II title with a 10-0 record, while Dolgeville/Oppenheim-Ephratah was sixth with a 2-8 league mark.
