Robert Alan Smith, 53, of Amsterdam, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012.

He was born November 15, 1958, in Elmira, N.Y., the son of the late Allen John Smith Sr. and Loretta Hollenbeck.

Bob was employed as a crew supervisor for the Township of Barnstable in Hyannis, Mass.

He enjoyed hunting and watching wrestling. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and also NASCAR. Tony Stewart was his favorite driver. Most of all, Bob loved to hang out at the Broadalbin Stewart's Shop. He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include a daughter, Holly Smith of Pennsylvania; stepdaughter, Shiela Smith (Jimmy) of Massachusetts; two stepsons, Jonathon Idoria (Lauren) of Massachusetts and Brandon Idoria of Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Shawn, Haley, Sierra and Allyssa; two brothers, David Smith of Amsterdam and Allen Smith (Kris) of Johnstown; sister, Donna Bacon (John) of Amsterdam; grandmother, Elizabeth Tafelski of Elmira; uncle, Hamilton Hollenbeck of Elmira; aunt, Betty Kerrick of Elmira Heights; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited and may call Wednesday, June 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, NY 12025. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. with Reverend Cynthia Van Allen presiding. Interment will take place at Deland Memorial Gardens in Deland, Fla. at a later date.
