GARY, Ind.- The top-seeded Kankakee County Soldiers knocked off the third-seeded Albany Legends 150-116, on Sunday at the Genesis Convention Center, in Gary, Ind., to win the championship of the Independent Basketball Association's spring season.
The Soldiers claimed their second championship of the year, as they were also the champions of the IBA winter season. Albany was looking for their second championship in the last three years this weekend.
The Soldiers were led by Stan Chismark's 34 points, while Ryan Edwards netted 33 points while grabbing 10 rebounds in the game.
For Albany, Lloyd Johnson once again led with 31 points. Gloversville graduate E.J. Gallup scored 16.
In Saturday's semifinal contest, Albany edged Kenosha, 136-134.
Gallup scored 34 points for the Legends.
Albany finishes its season with a 12-6 overall record.
