Federal Republican and Democratic primaries are scheduled to run from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Fulton, Montgomery and Hamilton counties.
Republicans in Fulton, Montgomery and Hamilton counties - along with all other counties across New York state - will choose between Republican candidates Wendy Long, Bob Turner and George Maragos for U.S. senator. The winner of the GOP primary faces incumbent Democrat U.S. Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand in the Nov. 6 general election.
Long also will be on the Conservative ballot in the fall, and Gillibrand also will be on Working Families and Independence parties' ballots in November.
Colia Clark also will be on the Green Party ballot for U.S. Senate in the general election.
Republicans in Fulton and Hamilton counties on Tuesday will help choose their nominee seeking the 21st Congressional District seat currently held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Bill Owens. On the GOP primary ballot Tuesday are Kellie A. Greene and Matthew A. Doheny.
Doheny also will be on the Conservative ballot in November, and Owens will be on the Working Families ballot in addition to the Democratic line.
In the 19th Congressional District, affecting Montgomery County voters, there will be a Democratic primary between Julian Schreibman and Joel Tyner.
The winner will be on the Democratic line against incumbent Republican-Conservative Chris Gibson, who also will be on the Independence line in the general election. Schreibman also will be on the Working Families line in November.
