City sets hearing on grant application

June 25, 2012
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE - City residents will have the opportunity during a public hearing Tuesday to ask questions about a grant application to the state Office of Community Renewal.

The application falls under the federal Housing and Urban Development's program for residential property renovation through Community Development Block Grants.

The grants help homeowners with qualifying income levels to make home repairs.

Scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall, residents will each have three minutes to ask the council about the application.

Other items scheduled for discussion during Tuesday's Common Council meeting include consideration of a moratorium on the construction of multiple-unit dwellings.

City Attorney Anthony Casale will give an update on the former First Baptist Church, which was demolished by the city about a year ago at 59 S. Main St.

The council also will discuss the problem of cats roaming in the city.
