JOHNSTOWN - A Gloversville man suspected in numerous burglaries last fall in the Glove Cities was sentenced Wednesday in Fulton County Court to five to 10 years in state prison.
Todd J. Brown, of 34 Wells St., was sentenced by Judge Richard C. Giardino based on a plea arrangement from his Feb. 1 guilty plea to one count of third-degree burglary.
Gloversville police arrested Brown on Oct. 10 after it was reported he was suspected in as many as a dozen burglaries in Gloversville and Johnstown between Sept. 29 and Oct. 12.
Police charged him with these break-ins at the following Gloversville locations: Mud Deli, 47 N. Main St., on Sept. 29; Sacandaga Elks Club, 120 Washington St., on Oct. 1; 16 Hill St. on Oct. 4; Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, 128 S. Kingsboro Ave., on Oct. 7; Don's Auto, 330 S. Main St., on Oct. 10; and Adirondack Chamois, 31 Union St., on Oct. 12.
Gloversville police had also charged Brown with third-degree burglary, petit larceny and possession of stolen property in connection with a Sept. 29 break-in at Herrl Woodcraft, 39 Hamilton St.
Johnstown police had charged Brown on Oct. 12 with three counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree grand larceny and one count of petit larceny in connection with break-ins at Pleasant Avenue Service, Autoworld and Bear Muffler, all in Johnstown.
In other county court cases Wednesday:
- Christopher R. Kenney, 44, of Beech Street, Mayfield, pleaded guilty before Giardino to one felony count of driving while intoxicated.
Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but he is slated to receive one to three years in state prison as part of a plea arrangement. He will also be assessed a $1,000 fine.
Kenney was charged Feb. 8 on Paradise Point Road in the town of Mayfield.
- Michael J. Todd, 33, of Houseman Street, Mayfield, pleaded guilty before Judge Polly A. Hoye to one count of felony DWI. Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but he is expected to receive one to three years in state prison and assessed a $1,000 fine.
Todd was charged Aug. 26 in Northampton. He was indicted Sept. 8 by a county grand jury.
- Ford W. Wolfe Jr., 38, of Fonda pleaded guilty before Hoye to counts of felony DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. The guilty plea, as part of a plea arrangement, was in full satisfaction of two different criminal cases against him.
Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but he is slated to receive 1 1/2 to three years in state prison.
State police charged Wolfe on March 16 on Route 30A in the town of Johnstown with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation. Troopers said at the time that both counts were felonies because Wolfe has two previous DWI convictions in the last 10 years. In that incident, he was also charged with refusal to take a breath test and using a vehicle without an interlock device, as well as failure to keep right and moving from a lane unsafely.
Wolfe had also been charged Dec. 19 with criminal contempt. The details of that case were unavailable.
In a county court case Thursday, Earl R. Wilcox, 22, of Palatine Bridge, was sentenced by Giardino to one to three years in state prison and assessed a $1,000 fine. The sentence was based on the defendant's March 15 guilty plea to one felony count of DWI.
He was arrested April 4.
